VTU New Rule: Crash/Extricating Semester for B.E/B.Tech Confirmation

The following is the official Notification from Visvesaraya Technological University

"The University has received representations from the students who have not cleared requisite number of subjects to gain eligibility for promotion to5th and 7th semesters as per OB 7.2 during the academic year 2016-2017. These students have also approached the Higher Education Department, Government of Karnataka. The said representations were placed before the authorities of the University.
The authorities of the University considered these requests of the students and resolved to provide Crash/Extricating semester wide VTU Executive Council Resolution No. 8.1 of 129th meeting dated 16-12-2016 as A SPECIAL ONE TIME MEASURE.

:CRASH / EXTRICATING SEMESTER:

 1. A facility of Crash/ Extricating semester is extended exclusively for students studying 2010 scheme including students who have joined from 2006 to 2010 scheme.

2. All-the students availing the benefit of Crash/ Extricating semester are required to study 2010 scheme syllabus only.





3. Applicability:

a. The students should have appeared for the Dec. 2016/Jan 2017. Examinations for their arrear subjects.
b. The students who have appeared for the arrear subjects and awaiting results to get the eligibility to 5th / 7th semester are permitted to opt for Crash/extricating semester.
c. All the students opting for Crash / extricating semester should. Submit an undertaking in a Rs. l00 / - stamp paper in the format enclosed herewith.
d. Such students should gain eligibility for the respective (5th/7th) semester with results of Dec.2016/Jan 2017 examinations.
e. If any student fails to gain eligibility with the results of Dec.2016/Jan 2017 examinations, his/her attendance and IA marks to the crash/extricating semester will be null &void and no correspondence in this regard will be entertained.

 : DETAILS OF CRASH/ EXTRICATING SEMESTER & RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE PRINCIPALS:

1. Period: 07 Weeks
2. Commencement of course: 26/12/2016
3. Closure of course: 12/02/2017

The Principals of the colleges are informed to:
  • Conduct classes for these students as per 2010 scheme and syllabus
  • Arrange and ensure that the students shall study the entire syllabus of the respective semester (5th / 7th semester) by conducting the theory and lab classes of the entire semester in this compressed period. Further, they must also satisfy the attendance and IA requirements.
  • Obtain an affidavit/legal undertaking as per 3 (c) above from all such students.
  • Take utmost care in admitting these students for higher semester in terms of eligibility and procedures.  
  •  The College Principals will be held responsible for any lapses in this regard. 
  •  The contents of this notification shall be brought to the notice of all concerned. "
